Lateral Bonus
Coronado Police Department offers a competitive lateral hiring bonus to recognize the value of prior experience. New academy graduates are eligible for a $10,000 bonus, while lateral officers with a POST Basic Certificate qualify for a $20,000 bonus.

Officers assigned to the overlap shift receive a 2.25% pay differential, while those working the night shift earn a 3.25% differential, ensuring fair compensation for critical coverage during evenings and overnight hours.

We value the unique skills required for specialized positions. Officers assigned as motor officers, detectives, task force officers, or field training officers receive 5% specialty pay in recognition of the advanced training, expertise, and responsibility these roles require.
